Urban Myth Posters

As mentioned in the previous post I'm starting the first collection of posters Urban Myth. With this poster I try to change a litle my graphic style, explore other ways and tecnics. Dont know if that was achived... I'm quite happy with the result, but it's far from good. I feel that I have to improve a lot. By the way, if you want to chek my posters, there is a bar in the right with direct links for them. Enjoy!

Inspiration from Birmingham

Last weekend I went to Birmingham, and I have to admit that it's not a very beautiful city to visit, 60% of the buildings are in 60's style, and it looks a very grey place. But I love that greyness, I love the modernism building from the 60's, they are amazing and with loads of graphic potencial. So I was inspired to do something like that, and here ir is.
In the future I'll have to take my camera and take some pictures of it!

The best way to start

Like one of my best teachers in the University once said to me: "The computer is a magnificent thing, but most of the times it's always better start with a simple drawing". That's what I did...Enjoy!!

Influence of Dave Mckean

Since my times in university, back in Portugal, I've been inspired by the textures of walls, and specially the old paint falling from them. Maybe the explanation for this is Dave Mckean, one of the most influencial nowadays artist/designer, and a special reference for me. His work is amazing!! So... that's one of the reasons why my works allways have a "old" and "darkish" background. In this case I've used a texture of a old wallpaper to make some contrast with the "paint-decomposing" parrot. Enjoy!!

Photoshop and paint

I've decided to paint, and with the precious help of photoshop this came out.

Dark work in a sunny day

I always try to create less "dark" graphic works... but sometimes I just can't manage to do that.

Cover for the background

The background of this work is from a cover of an old book that I found it in the street today. I just had to do something with it, so here it is!
